Last week, the Realtor Associates of the Fishermen's Village office of Coldwell Banker Sunstar were hosted at the new city of The Babcock Ranch in Southeast Charlotte County. Our host was Mr. Axel Kallenborn, 'Ambassador to the Ranch."
Following an extensive overview of the ranch and its history, we were off in two large SUV's to the opening of the site. It is note worthy to add that the site is a CONSTRUCTION SITE AND NOT OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
The presentation by Axel in the office was pale to the scope and grandeur of the project. One quickly realizes the undertaking and the thought that was put into this city. You cannot confuse this with a gated track community. Babcock is on a scale of its own. It is more comparable with Celebration in Disney or the Villages.
The first thing you will realize is GREEN AND SUSTAINABLE. This is the concept of a city with every component thought out to enchase the living experience with an ecofriendly foundation under it. The Babcock Ranch when completed will be the home of a total of 19,500 residential units. The community will have a mix of affordable, moderate and luxury residences, many within walking distance to the town center. The actual Ranch will encompass 17,608 acres of which 50% is dedicated to greenways, parks, and lakes. More than 6 million sq.ft. of commercial space will be developed as well.
In the coming months and blogs, we will gain additional insight into the ranch and share that with you. Just think of a city with self-driving autonomous cars as the public transportation system. A city with 50 miles of bike and hiking trails, or lakes to sail, paddle, or fish in without the noise of an outboard motor.
